GET READY, SET, REPORT!

Student/Reporter Connect

Need your court reporting sit-out hours? Start here.

Court reporting students are required to spend time sitting out with working reporters before entering the profession. Reporter Connect makes it easier to find reporters who have volunteered to let students sit in on their assignments and work toward completing their required 20 hours.

These reporters were students once too. As you complete your required hours, they’re happy to answer questions, share their experiences, and give you a closer look at what working in the field is really like.

HOW REPORTER CONNECT WORKS

Your 20 sit-out hours are about seeing the career in action.

The working reporters listed below have volunteered to allow court reporting students to contact them about possible sit-out opportunities.

01

Choose a Reporter

Browse the list of working reporters who are open to having students sit out with them.

02

Request a Sit-Out

Email the reporter, introduce yourself as a court reporting student, and ask whether they have an upcoming assignment you may be able to observe.

03

Learn From the Experience

Observe a real working reporter, work toward your required hours, and use the opportunity to learn more about what happens on the job.

Please remember: Reporter Connect is designed to help students find opportunities to complete their required internship hours. These reporters are generously volunteering their time and access to their working day. Sitting out opportunities depend on each reporter's schedule, assignment, agency, attorneys, and whether a student is permitted to attend.
